What is a typical Summer Day Camp day like?
The day includes a focused social skills lesson each session along with a variety of engaging activities which include embedded individualized opportunities for learning and practicing correct social behaviors within a group of like peers

What is a Summer Day Camp Social Skills Lesson Plan like?
Each day includes a focused social skills lesson.  Each lesson is designed to target a social behavior required for successful peer relationships, good personal character, and building self-esteem. Click here to view a sample lesson plan.

Why choose Spectrum Day Camp for your child?
Spectrum Day Camp  provides direct social skills instruction along with summer fun activities that incorporate the instruction into everyday life skills. Our group leaders are trained to facilitate interaction among the participants so that each child has the opportunity to practice social skills with other children in a meaningful way. It is not the typical therapy session where a lesson is taught and practiced in the therapy room, but a real life session where the skill is actually happening and the children have the opportunity to generalize the social skill appropriately. 

Who can attend Spectrum Day Camp?
Spectrum Day Camp is for children to young adults with social, communication, sensory, and behavioral needs interested in making friends, learning to be better friends, and having fun.  Participants must be able to function in a group of 8-10 campers with HFA/Asperger's or a group of 4-5 campers who need more adult support to address behaviors and daily living skills.  Children with Autism/Asperger's;Communication Disorders; Sensory Integration Disorders and other social skills needs will benefit from participation in Spectrum Day Camp.

When is Spectrum Day Camp?
There will be 7 weeks of day camp this summer. Click on the week dates to learn more about the themes, groups, and activities each week.
Week 1: June 3-7
Week 2: June 10-14
Week 3: June 17-21

Week 4: June 24-28
Week 5: July 8-12

Week 6: July 15-19
Week 7: July 22-26


Where
is Spectrum Day Camp located?
All 7 weeks will be located at Lawrenceville Church of God 329 Grayson Highway 20, Lawerenceville, GA 30046

Is Lunch provided at Spectrum Day Camp:
Each child should bring a lunch and drink from home each day except Friday when we will serve pizza. There is a microwave to warm up food if needed.

Does my child need to bring a water bottle?
Water bottles are provided and kept at camp until Friday each week.  Water bottles should be returned to camp each week your child attends camp.

What should campers wear to Spectrum Day Camp?
Please dress your child in clothes that can get dirty and tennis shoes. Many of the activities at camp are messy.
An extra set of clothes should be sent on Monday each week to stay at camp. Please label all your child's belongs with his/her last name.

Will there be a need for a swim suit and towel at camp?
Water play is scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week, please send a swim suit and towel to camp on these days. All swim suits, towels and sunscreen must be labeled with your child's name. 

Are electronic devices allowed at Spectrum Day Camp?
No, please do not bring any valuable items such as electronic  devices to camp.  The day's activities provide many opportunities for games with friends including time to practice teamwork, competition, and social interaction while playing interactive Wii games.

How can I share Spectrum Day Camp with my friends and my child's school?
